Going to the Chapel...

So this little factoid has actually been determined pretty much since before we got engaged, actually it was probably determined a long time ago when me and my sister were little girls...

The Double D and I will be getting married at my home church of Southside Baptist.

The church address is:

Southside Baptist Church
709 Ninth Street SE
Decatur, AL  35601

For those of you who might be strangers driving in a new land, you might find this lay of the land to be useful.  We will provide directions to the church from both the interstate and the hotel at a later point in time.

Updates and stuff aka Abroad Abodes for Incoming

So, we picked a china pattern.

That's it...

In other news I set up a block rate for rooms for the wedding in Decatur at the Jameson Inn..Jameson like the Whiskey.

The rate is $59.99 a night.

Their information can be found here but for those with a slow connection, the phone number is 256-355-2229. Call and tell them that your with the Denny wedding (I tried to get him to change it to Hamilton-Denny so we could be all proper but that would have just irritated some poor desk clerk)  and you can get the group rate. Reservations have to be made by middle of July so take your time, but hurry up.

Edited by Madame Fury....

For those wanting to know a little more about the hotel we picked, check out this.  You can manipulate the site and it will provide you with pictures of the rooms/common areas, information about amenities, and a virtual tour!  Their breakfast sounds pretty awesome and is touted in some of the reviews.

The First BM Dress

Last Friday, the first bridesmaid, R, received her dress from David's Bridal!  Now I will admit DB does things a little awkwardly...they emailed me about R's dress and she wasn't contacted about it at all.

Regardless she was a peach and picked the dress up Friday night, even snapped a picture in it before getting on a flight to Nashville Saturday.  The fact that her dress came in so quickly gives me hope that my sister's dress will arrive in time for her to have it altered over Graduation weekend in May.  Btw, as of last week all the BM dresses have been ordered!

Apparently the dress is a little darker than in the picture, but "Yay!" for R being such a good sport!  Thanks girlie!

The Final Dress Hunt

Two weeks ago, my mother and I made one final dress shopping trip.  We went to several small stores in north west Alabama in the Florence/Muscle Shoals area.  While we found some lovely dresses and very nice people we decided to go back to Nashville to visit Southern Belle Rose and the dress that I had found there on our previous Nashville shopping trip.

When I first tried on this dress I wasn't overly excited because it reminded me of a dress I had previously tried on that I had decided I didn't like.  Once I tried it on though mom and I both had a feeling that this would be the one.  It combined all the things that I wanted and liked from other dresses into one dress!  Flash forward over a month of thinking and analyzing and after trying the dress on again I felt sure this was THE dress.  We bought the dress off the rack so we went ahead and got the dress altered...there really really wasn't much altering needed the most extensive of which was the bustling of the dress.

For those interested, I am still looking for a veil and shoes but am strongly leaning towards getting both items at Southern Belle Rose as well.  There is a veil there that matches the dress practically perfectly and she has shoes that mimic certain features of the dress and are a short enough heel for me to not need the dress dramatically altered and will allow me to be a little shorter than the Double D on our wedding day.  They aren't the 3" heels I'm used to but I'm sure they'll work and I'll adjust just fine!

Getting this huge piece of the wedding puzzle put in place is a great weight off my shoulders and seems to have opened the flood gates to the detail planning which we'll go in to in the following posts!

So Many Happenings!

I'll hopefully be making several posts over the weekend on all the progress the Double D and I have been making these last few weeks.

The Hunt for Red October...no wait...The Hunt for Bridesmaid Dresses!

While not too much progress has been made on our wedding front, I'll update on what has been going on in our lives.

The Double D has been harassing hotels in Decatur for block room information/prices so we should have that info available for you out-of-towners soon!

On Valentine's Day, the Double D graciously took me to David's Bridal to get sized for a BM dress for one of my BFFs.  After I had ordered my dress for her wedding, I went ahead and "registered" at DB for my own BM dresses (also see below) .

The Double D and I had a delightful V-day starting w/breakfast and ending with dinner at Copeland's of New Orleans and dessert courtesy of Dunkin' Doughnuts

This past weekend we split our time between three cities!  I left the Atl late to get to my grandfather's where I spent Saturday morning with him out in the pasture, sitting outside enjoying the gorgeous day, and eating a yummy lunch!  Friday night the Double D went bowling with some of the AU history profs and one of his grad student friends...apparently he was a big hit with his conversation skills and music choices!

Saturday night we linked up in B'ham for a childhood friend's (of mine) wedding where we got to hang out with my mom and one of my BFFs from high school.  I know I had a blast dancing and singing and hopefully the Double D enjoyed his time even if weddings aren't his cup of tea.

Before we linked up at the wedding, my mom and I had to hit up DB once again to search for another BM dress for Manda's, one of my other BFFs, wedding/redoing-of-the-vows.  She left it up to us to decide on a style but declared a color choice and length for us to work with.  After trying on many different styles, I settled on this one that I can potentially cut short to wear it for a lot of different things!  Best thing of all, the bride likes it!

Being at the wedding this weekend got the creative juices flowing again and I think we have a couple of good contenders for wedding favors.  Over the next few weeks I'm hoping to gather up all of the invitations and programs that I've collected over the years for us to sit down and look at.

The Double D followed me home from B'ham, which I was VERY grateful for, I was exhausted driving back and it was nice to have someone to talk to and keep me awake.  Sunday we tried out pizza at a place near Georgia Tech before I headed to work and the Double D headed back to Auburn.

Overall the weeks have been busy for both of us and don't show any sign of letting up too much, but the good news is we aren't stressing out about anything!
